I swear this isn’t going to turn into all GSD all the time, but not much else happened this past week. It’s been too motherflipping cold. But hey! I got dressed FOUR days last week. Like, bra and everything! That’s got to be some sort of record, and it feels damn good!

But on to this week’s G to the SD. It was one that had been looming over my head (literally) for some time now. You may remember these pictures, they’ve both been posted here before.

I throw a LOT of shit on top of my kitchen cabinets. They’re just so handy! Unfortunately, after 3 years of throwing random shit up there, the entire area was starting to reach the point that it was making me twitchy. For example- in the corner there, under that cake stand? A pool noodle. Yeah. One end is a bit chewed up, so I could believe that at one time somebody was biting on it and I took it away. And I’ve already recently covered the nail polish that’s up there, just waiting for disaster. There is also a cabinet full of ugly vases and such behind that shelf on the fridge that’s overflowing with cookbooks I rarely touch.

So. Monday morning cometh. I decided that it was time. Time to tackle it. I dragged all that shit down and put it on the counters (and then said “HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU- DON’T TOUCH THE THINGS ON THE COUNTER. GO PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!” about a thousand times.)

And thanks to what I can only assume is an early nesting instinct, I even wiped all the gross from the tops of those suckers. Violet thought it was HILARIOUS that I was standing on counters.

I’ve still got a bit more junk sorting/organizing to do to fully finish up this project. I got rid of a bunch of junk, moved the cookbooks (that I actually use) and the nail polish and meds into the cabinet over the fridge, threw away a bottle of Pepto that expired oh, bout 4 years ago. I ended up with one big bag of arts/crafts type supplies, and one HUGE stack of artwork that I still need to sort through. But, by the middle of the afternoon, I’d finished to a point that I could say that it was a highly successful GSD day.

And yes. That’s our fruit bowl on top of the fridge. I did just sit it there temporarily, but I’m considering leaving it up there because I am so damn sick of finding half-eaten apples all over the damn house.

So I didn’t eat lunch till 4. So I didn’t shower or get dressed until 4:45. That’s the beauty of the one designated GSD day. Now that I’ve done that, I’ve started my week off feeling like I’ve accomplished something. Now I am free to just play with the kids and coast the rest of the week and I will still come out ahead.

We were supposed to host a playdate this morning but had to cancel because Violet’s eye is starting to look threateningly pink. I’m hoping against hope that it isn’t what I think it is. Friggin’ conjunctivitis.
